African grey parrot (Psittacus erithacus erithacus)

An African grey parrot seems to know when you are happy or sad, and reacts to your mood. They are intelligent and good early training is essential to ensure the African Grey parrot becomes a life long companion

They will talk in human voices and keep learning more words and phrases all their life. Many possess extensive vocabularies and often mimic owners voices perfectly. Some learn to sing songs and use multiple "voices". It is not uncommon for them to imitate the sound of a ringing telephone, microwave chime or doorbell.

Their diet should consist of a good parrot mix and Kaytee pellets, as well as various fruit and vegetables.
